Vale Brett McCann
The TVCC family is mourning the loss of Brett McCann - former player, captain, committee member & selector – and a long time TVCC Club Man.
Brett spent significant time through the 90’s and early 2000’s at the club, and was widely regarded by all who came across him. He played 2nd grade through to City and Suburban and played a total of 27 matches across 5 seasons returning 371 runs @ 16.86 before turning his focus to off-field activities.
As a selector he was widely regarded by the whole club – unheard of for someone performing that less than glamorous role! He had a focus on junior development and his straight talk and knowledge of the game helped contribute to the success the club experienced during that period.
The following is an excerpt from the TVCC history which sums Brett up to a tee:
Brett McCann, chairman of selectors has the worst job in the club, but two Club Championships in a row are testimony to his efforts and the compliments paid to him by players and captains further support the excellence of the way he did his job.
Brett continued his support of the club even through recent years, including a stint managing the 3rd grade side in 2017-18 and was also able to join us at the National Premier T/20 tournament in Adelaide to support the 1st grade side.
A great man, full of humour and always a story to share. He will be sorely missed by all…
The thoughts of the TVCC family are with Brett’s family at this time.
